Simon Savage Quartet

Simon Savage, a leading tenor saxophonist across the South Coast, and his crew of trusty companeros offer up a wonderful afternoon jazz set for our opening weekend.

This straight ahead, soulful swinging tight quartet play arrangements of standards and jazzy blues by the likes of Grant Green, Hank Mobley and Kenny Burrell. Jason Henson on guitar plays very much in the style of the great bop and blues guitarists, playing the head arrangements with Simon, forming a tight front line. Roy Hilton is the consummate, bebop piano player, whose Sonny Clarke-style playing is only surpassed by his classy writing and arranging. Completing the line up is George Trebar on double bass, whose solid and inventive lines hold the quartet together with an effortless groove.
